ADULT BASKETBALL: Sign up for the Minot Recreation Commission's Adult Basketball League will be through Nov. 6. Call the commission office at 857-4730 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to sign up.

YWCA CLASSES: The Minot YWCA is accepting applications for Pilates Class and Yoga Class. Pilates classes are available Monday through Thursday at 9:15 and 11:15 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. and people may come to as many pilates classes as they want per month. Yoga classes are available Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Pilates Class is $20 per month plus an annual YWCA membership of $25. Yoga classes are $15 per month plus the annual $25 fee. People may start these classes anytime. All classes are held at 1020 N. Broadway. Call 838-1812 for more information.

BASEBALL FUNDRAISER: The Magic City Youth Baseball Stag Fundraiser will be Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. in the Grand International Inn in Minot. Tickets are $50 and those attending must be age 21 or older. There will be a silent auction and a live auction. Sports memorabilia will include a football signed by Willie Parker, a helmet signed by Chris Carter, a picture signed by Emmitt Smith and other items. Magic City Youth Baseball oversees the American Legion Vista and Metro teams and several Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken Jr. leagues for youth ages 10-19. SENIOR DRIVING COURSE: The American Association of Retired Persons Driver Safety Program for people age 50 and older, "55 Alive," will be taught Nov. 5-6 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Parker Senior Center in Minot. The course is for people age 50 and older. People must call the center at 852-0561 to preregister. The class is sponsored by the AARP Chapter No. 522 of Minot.

HIGH SCHOOL THEATER: The Minot High School Magic City Playmakers will present "Snoopy!!! The Musical" Nov. 6-8 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. in MHS-Magic City Campus' Arvel Graving Theater. "Snoopy!!! The Musical" is a musical comedy based on the comic strip PEANUTS by Charles M. Schultz and features music by Larry Grossman and lyrics by Hal Hackady. It is a sequel to the musical "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." "Snoopy!!!" Tickets, sold at the door, will be $7 adults, $6 for senior citizens and $5 for those under age 18. Alphonse Koenigsman is the director, Paula Simonson is the choreographer and Dawn Freeman is the musical director.

YOUTH/FAMILY EVENT: Face the Fall Without Alcohol, an event to empower youth and parents to prevent underage drinking, will be Nov. 7 at Sleep Inn, Dakota Square Mall, Minot. This event, geared toward students in grades seven through 10, will be at 6:30 p.m. and is free. The evening will include free food, games, giveaways and the featured presenter, Jeff Warner of Ultimate Strength. The primary sponsor of this event is Minot Family Alliance. Warner is a world record holder in several strong man events and has been a professional wrestler and boxer. He will talk about preventing substance abuse and performing strong man feats. Adults are invited to attend the Face the Fall Without Alcohol event or to join the seminar for parents, counselors and youth pastors Nov. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sleep Inn. ANIMAL SHELTER FUNDRAISER: The Souris Valley Animal Shelter in Minot will be taking "Furry Friends and Family Photos" Nov. 8-9 as a fundraiser. A fall or winter/holiday background will be available. Call Susan at 839-6770 to preregister.

CPR CLASS: The Minot Family YMCA offers a CPR-PR course the second Saturday of each month. The cost for the class is $75. People must preregister for the class. Call the Y at 852-0141 for preregistration information.

ART ALA CARTE: The Taube Museum of Art, 2 N. Main St., is sponsoring "Art Ala Carte Saturdays", an all-you-can-eat lunch including dessert and beverage, and children's art activities Nov. 8, Dec. 13, Jan. 10, a date to be announced later in February, March 14, April 11 and May 2. The lunches are from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Following is the schedule: Nov. 8, sloppy joes; Dec. 13, macaroni and cheese; Jan. 10, pancakes and sausage, February, soup; March 14, pizza; April 11, hamburgers and fries; and May 2, tacos. The lunches are designed for children of all ages. Pay at the door prices are $7 for Taube members and $10 for nonmembers; $24 for a member family of up to four people and $30 for a family of up to four people; and $5 for children ages 10 and under. FUNDRAISER BREAKFAST: The Minot Eagles Auxiliary will have a breakfast to raise money for charity Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Minot Knights of Columbus Club, 2601 N. Broadway. Pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs will be served for $4.50 per person. Preschoolers may eat for free.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING CLASS: The N.D. Safety Council Inc., Bismarck, will offer the Defensive Driving Course Nov. 10 from 6 to 10 p.m. in Minot State University's Model Hall, Room 207. The cost is $45 per person, $40 if you are a member of the N.D. Safety Council, or $30 for senior citizens ages 55 and older. Additional family members may take the course for $20. CONNIE BEYER BENEFIT: A Benefit Spaghetti Supper for Connie Beyer will be Nov. 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. in Bread of Life Lutheran Church, 1415-17th Ave. SW. A freewill offering will assist with medical expenses. Donations, payable to Thrivent Financial For Lutherans, may also be sent to the church.

OPEN MIC NIGHT: Main Street Books, 106 S. Main St., will have "Open Mic Night" Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in the store. If you have an original or favorite unoriginal poem, short story, song or comic skit, can read it. The store will be open throughout the event and free coffee will be provided. MATS THEATER: The Minot Area Theatrical Society will present "Five Women Wearing the Same Dress," a comic drama by Alan Ball, Nov. 13-15 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. in The Vegas Motel, Minot. Tickets for the Nov. 13 no-meal show are $8 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and children. Tickets are $20 each for the dinner shows Nov. 14-15 and $15 for the lunch show Nov. 16. BABYSITTERS' TRAINING: Preregistration is now being taken for Babysitters' Training offered by the Mid-Dakota Chapter Office of the American Red Cross in Minot. Infant and child CPR instruction will be Nov. 14 from 6 to 10 p.m. The Babysitters' Class training will be Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $40, which includes the book and training materials. UNIVERSITY CONCERT: The New Christy Minstrels will present a concert Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Minot State University's Ann Nicole Nelson Hall. NODAKORDS: The Nodakords 41st Annual Harvest of Harmony concert, "One More Song," will be Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Holiday Inn-Riverside Coliseum. Special guest quartet will be Ignition. BROADWAY SAMPLER: Mouse River Players Community Theatre will present a musical revue, "A Broadway Sampler," Nov. 28-29 in The Arlene Saugstad Theater downtown, 115-1st St. SE. Social hour will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the performance at 7:30 p.m. There will be food, door prizes and Broadway show tunes performed by local youth and adults. Tickets are $15 per person. RENAISSANCE FEAST: The Minot Chamber Chorale will present the annual "A Renaissance Christmas Feast" Dec. 4-6 in the Minot Holiday Inn Riverside Coliseum. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Rehab Services Inc. in Minot is seeking volunteers for its newest program called Recoveree Connection. Volunteers provide telephone support for North Dakotans in drug and alcohol recovery. Volunteers should have experience in the recovery process. RAILROAD SAFETY VOLUNTEERS: North Dakota Operation Lifesaver is seeking passionate volunteers to help spread their message about railroad safety. ND Operation Lifesaver is a non-profit public information and safety education program dedicated to eliminating collisions, deaths, and injuries at highway-rail grade crossings and on railroad rights-of-way. MINOT HISTORY WANTED: Mouse River Players Community Theatre is planning for a historical drama presentation in March. WISH LIST: The 2nd Story Social Club has a wish list of items needed. Those who would like to donate may bring monetary donations, plastic silverware, paper plates, paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, Styrofoam cups, napkins, hand soap, bingo prizes, air freshener, 13 gallon garbage bags, healthy snacks, cookies, bars, coffee and pop. The club is located at 13-1st Ave. SW. The best time to drop off donations is weekdays after 5 p.m. or on the weekends. 2nd Story is a social club for adults with developmental disabilities. The club is now accessible for those with handicaps.

CLUBS DIRECTORY: The 28th edition of the Clubs and Organizations Directory is available for the public for $3 per directory. The directory lists clubs and organizations including human service agencies in the Minot area, contact persons, with addresses and phone numbers. People may purchase the directory at the Minot Public Library's Information and Referral Center Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The directory is published annually. Club presidents and members are asked to submit updated information for the 29th edition of the directory, which will be published later. LIBRARY HOME DELIVERY: The Minot Public Library offers home delivery through the library's Special Services Program. The program is for people who are homebound, who have a visual or physical disability or who live in a nursing home or assisted living center. DRIVERS NEEDED: The North Dakota Association for the Disabled in Minot needs drivers to transport individuals to out-of-town medical appointments. Drivers would use their own vehicles and would get mileage reimbursement. A van accessible for transporting people with handicaps is also available for some appointments. EASTER SEALS SERVICES: Easter Seals Goodwill ND Inc,. offers in-home support services for people with disabilities and for senior citizens; offers personal care, homemaker and other services; rents equipment including walkers, wheel chairs and other medical equipment; and operates the Goodwill Retail Store in Minot. LITERACY FUNDRAISER: The Minot Adult Literacy Volunteers organization is collecting used books, cell phones and inkjet cartridges as part of an going furaising effort. People may drop these items off at a collection center inside the Minot Adult Learning Center at 1609-4th Ave. NW.

POWERS LAKE CENTENNIAL: The Powers Lake Centennial Registration Committee is gathering addresses of graduates for the Powers Lake Centennial, which will be July 3-5, 2009. The committee doesn't have lists of people who didn't graduate from Powers Lake but would like to receive mailings about the celebration.
