Vincent United Methodist Church's Annual Bazaar: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the church's Fellowship Hall, 1024-2d St. SE. A lunch of creamed turkey on homemade biscuits will be served from 11 a.m. until gone. There will be a cookie sale, crafts, baked goods and lefse for sale. Pastries and coffee will be served from 9 to 11 a.m. A silent auction will be held and bidding will close at 1 p.m. The church is accessible for people with handicaps.
Free weekly Saturday soup kitchen (breakfast): 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Congregational United Church of Christ basement, east door.
Des Lacs United Methodist Church Fall Bazaar: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Des Lacs Community Center. Crafts, napkins, cards and baked goods will be sold. A noon meal of escalloped potatoes and ham with a full salad bar will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pie and coffee will be served throughout the bazaar.
Roosevelt Park Zoo's Boo at the Zoo event: noon to 4 p.m., at the zoo. There will be trick or treating with area businesses and a chance to go through a "not so scary Haunted House." Photos will be taken of children in costumes for $3 each. Children ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Admission for Boo at the Zoo is $2 for Greater Minot Zoological Society members or $3 for non-members.
Minot Area Theatrical Society actor and produced playwright Terry J. Aman will lead a free scriptwriting workshop: 3 p.m., Minot Public Library's Quad Room. The workshop will focus on creating and developing characters, and is open to writers at all levels of experience. People should bring paper and pencil and are encouraged to dress as a character they've created or whom they admire. Preregistration is not required. Minot American Legion Post 26 social nights: Starting at 4 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, 1949 N. Broadway.
Minot Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 753 and Ladies Auxiliary will host a Halloween Trick of Treat Party: 5 to 7:30 p.m., VFW Post, 1100-31st St. SE. Children may collect treats and Lucky Lennie the Clown will be there with balloons.
Dakota Square trick or treating: Most businesses in Dakota Square Mall in Minot will have treats for kids from 5 to 7 p.m. Children should bring their own treat bags and can collect treats going store to store.
The 27th Annual Community Halloween Party: 5 to 8 p.m., Minot State University Dome, third floor. The Optimist Club of Minot and the MSU Council for Exceptional Children sponsor the party. The party is a chance for children to trick or treat inside in a safe environment. Businesses, service clubs, civic organizations, MSU student organizations and others sponsor and decorate Halloween booths and provide the candy and other treats. There will also be a new event this year, "The Dance Off of the Community Mascots." A prize will be given for first place.
Minot First Church of the Nazarene will host a trunk or treat event: 6 to 8 p.m., 2500 W. Central Ave. Vehicles will be lined up in the parking lot with treats for the children. Hot cider and hot dogs will also be served.
Pangea Haunted House: Originally scheduled for 6 to 10:30 p.m., 109 W. Central Ave., has been canceled.
Somerset Court's Annual Halloween Haunted House: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., 1900-28th St. SW. Children should bring a food pantry item and they may tour the haunted house. Trick or Treating will be available in the hallways. Food Pantry items will be donated to local food pantries.
Roosevelt Park Zoo will have its Scary Haunted House open: 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., at the zoo. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children ages 12 years old and younger. Children must be accompanied by an adult. People will receive $1 off same-night repeat visits. Visit the Web site at (www.rpzoo.com) for more information.
The Minot High School-Magic City Campus Playmakers will present "Seussical the Musical," a musical based on the works of Dr. Seuss: Saturday, 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, 2 p.m., Arvel Graving Theater, MHS-Magic City Campus. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $5 for students and $3 for children ages 5 and younger. For a reserved seat call 420-1805.
