| | SportsDay ND - 12/24December 24, 2012 - Staff BlogKind of a light day for sports around North Dakota, which is perfect because I'm battling a sugar coma from eating three kinds of Christmas goodies. This post will be short and undoubtedly less sweet than everything I recklessly threw into my stomach Sunday night. Our best: The MDN's Adam Lawson cranked out an in-depth feature on Phillies pitcher Jeremy Horst, who lived in Burlington during his high school years. This was a dream assignment for Lawson, a sabermetrics guru who can probably name the 11th-best prospect in the Mariners farm system. As there were no high school sports on Sunday, we'll skip right to NDSU and UND coverage. NDSU: The women's basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak with a 60-48 win over Milwaukee. UND: The Grand Forks Herald's Brad Elliott Schlossman had a midseason progress report on the UND hockey team. Of note: Bismarck Tribune prep sports writer Steve Thomas shares his top five stories of the year. That's all for me here. Check out our Dec. 25 print edition, which will feature our all-area football team. — Daniel Allar Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | in: News, Blogs & Events Web |
