The local cable company is trying to lure me with a deal on a cable subscription.
While I am a little wistful that I will have to wait a year to see the fourth season of "Game of Thrones,' I don't feel like paying for a subscription to HBO to see it any earlier. Besides, I already knew that Tyrion killed his father because I've read all the books. It doesn't make me like him any less. Tywin Lannister kind of had it coming.
When I did have cable, I found myself watching mainly three or four channels: 24 hour news channels, gardening shows on HGTV and the occasional ubiquitous "Law and Order" rerun. None of them were worth close to $50 a month.
On the other hand, there isn't much to speak of on network TV during the summer either. The weather is too nice to watch much TV anyway. When I do have the TV on, I enjoy the "Doc Martin" series on PBS about a curmudgeonly doctor. I also have been watching classic movies on DVD. Right now I'm on a bit of an Alfred Hitchcock kick. Who knew that a 50-year-old suspense movie like "Rear Window" could be quite so good?
What is on your screen these days when you feel like watching TV?
