Annoying Sprint commercial about freaky Frobinson framily
May 20, 2014 - Andrea Johnson
Has anyone seen or heard those extremely annoying commercials about the Sprint "Framily" Plan?
Lately, whenever I'm driving somewhere, my ears are assaulted with a Sprint radio ad about an annoying fellow called Gordon (excuse me, Gor-DON) who wants to use his smart phone to listen to gar-BAGE music. A few weeks back, the messenger was a geeky kid called "Zack Frobinson" who wanted listeners to give him dating advice and spoke in a Texas drawl. I've tried switching stations but the same ad invariably airs seconds later on the new station.
There seem to be TV ads too. I looked up the commercial, mainly out of incredulity that any advertising agency could ever have thought this was a good idea or one that would attract customers. The "Frobinson framily" includes a father who is a talking hamster, a mother, a blonde little girl called Heidi who has bluebirds flying around her head and speaks only in French, and the aforementioned Zack, who speaks like a stereotypical Texas cowboy. Annoying Gordon is a friend of a brother who is away at college.
For some reason, I am reminded of the Munsters or the Addams Family, but the Frobinsons are far more grating than they are lovable. An annoying commercial probably isn't the most important thing in the scheme of things, but it's still annoying. Too bad, since I am in the market for a smart phone and a phone plan too.
What commercials have annoyed you lately?
