Time to replace Heitkamp
On January 29th, 2018, the Senate blocked a bill to ban abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy. This bill was backed by President Donald Trump and two-thirds of Americans, including more than half of Democrats and more than half of self-described pro-choice Americans. Senator Heitkamp voted against ending a filibuster, effectively killing the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, Bill 2311.
Not only was it a huge blow to all pro-lifer’s that she voted no, but Senator Heitkamp then celebrated by high-fiving Senator Chuck Schumer. She was celebrating that she successfully stopped this legislation from being voted on. She was celebrating that abortionists can continue to kill babies that are viable outside of their mother’s womb. She was also celebrating the fact that babies born alive after a botched abortion are not protected under law, so doctors can legally toss them into a tray to let them suffer and die.
There is abundant evidence that by this point in development (and probably earlier), the unborn child does experience excruciating pain during abortion procedures. Abortions at this stage are performed using a variety of techniques, but most often by a method in which the unborn child’s arms and legs are twisted off with brutal force and pieces of the baby are removed one at a time. There is evidence that shows the babies are often alive while at least the first few limbs are torn off. It is absolutely heartbreaking how brutal late-term abortions truly are.
Senator Heitkamp has a record of voting in favor of pro-abortion bills. The US is one of only 7 countries that allows late-term abortions, next to China and North Korea. Senator Heitkamp is not the person we want representing our pro-life state! This is the year we need to replace her with a Pro-Life Senator!!
