Thanks to Patrice, more kids can now swim

This past summer, Patrice Mitchell celebrated her Golden Anniversary – 50 years of providing swimming lessons to children and adults. To mark this momentous occasion, Patrice had T-shirts made, which she sold for $10 each, with the proceeds going to pay for swimming lessons for children in foster care in Ward County.

On behalf of our Foster Care unit, I want to wholeheartedly (albeit belatedly) thank Patrice for using her reason to celebrate as a way to bring the joy of learning to swim to the children we serve. Thanks to her thoughtfulness, along with the generosity of her many students (young and old alike!) and the fine folks at Ryan Chevrolet, $1,950 was raised toward her cause.

Anyone who has been lucky enough to cross paths with Patrice knows she is all about our community’s kids and we are very grateful that she shared her moment in the sun with these special kids!
