The difference between Heitkamp and Hoeven

An ad was put out this week entitled “Heidi’s Hiding” and attacked her voting record including her vote against the GOP health care bills. This ad was obviously a spin-off of the “Where is Hoeven” campaign that has been gaining traction in Bismarck.

The difference between Heitkamp and Hoeven is she was transparent on how she was going to vote, whereas Hoeven voted the opposite of what he said.

The GOP claim that Heidi is hiding also rings false. Heitkamp connects with North Dakotans in different ways including Facebook live videos and public appearances. This spring she hosted open town halls. In July, she attended a health care rally in Bismarck; just last week she was at a Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. She also completed a tour around North Dakota meeting with farmers who were affected by the drought.

And where has Hoeven been lately? No one seems to know. He had one “public” meeting (if you count opening up a previously scheduled meeting to the public less than 24 hours beforehand). The GOP smear campaign was not rooted in fact and was done to distract attention from the fact that Hoeven refuses to host a public town hall.
