Get help to prevent suicide

Suicide. People need to become more comfortable with this word. Maybe it’s because of a mental illness, a physical illness, or maybe dealing with the everyday struggles of life is just enough to send someone over the edge. Whatever the reason may be for someone committing suicide, there’s one thing that rings true: those left behind to deal with the loss of their loved one, are the ones who end up hurting the most.

My grandpa committed suicide June 26, 2016. It has almost been a full year since he’s been gone, and the pain is just as severe as it was the day it happened. I saw the large amount of hurt it caused, not only to myself, but to the rest of my family, and that’s a pain I wish I could take away from them. A pain I wish I could take away from anyone who is dealing with a horrible tragedy such as suicide.

If you are considering taking your own life, please get help- call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255, and rely on your loved ones- whether they be family, friends or even strangers.
