Clear out the camp

Troy Johnson

With our new administration coming of Friday, hopefully the Dakota Access Pipeline will get completed. This protest thing really gave North Dakota a black eye. Not only did the protest stop jobs, but now it looks like they are going to end up polluting the very waters that they wanted to protect.

How ironic.

First the National Guard should go in and arrest who are left, then whoever is, and has been arrested, should be made to go in and tear down, drag out and clean up the mess before the snow melts and it floods, thus contaminating our river.

As far as the pipeline, it will be way safer than any other one built across the river. It was the Corps of Engineers’ fault to let this escalate to the extent that it is. The state should take over the Corps of Engineers’ operations of the way land is allowed to be used. The average North Dakotan can’t camp, drive and fish and use ATVs on this property at all. As good stewards of the earth, the majority of us would take better care of this land. Some of the people protesting were getting paid. How sad. That means they don’t care either way.

It looks like we the taxpayers are going to get stuck with this problem because the Obama administration ran with their tail between their legs.
