Gave thanks for law enforcement this year

Julie Ellingson

As our family gathers together for the Thanksgiving holiday today, we will be counting the many blessings we have been given throughout the year. Among them: the many dedicated and selfless law enforcement officers from around the state and nation who have worked incredibly hard over the past three-and-a-half months to keep our neighborhood safe in the wake of the relentless protest activities.

We are so thankful to those who have come from far and near to respond to what has often been a chaotic situation. We are grateful for their courage, their patience, their perseverance and the long hours they have put in to enforce the law and to help keep life as normal as possible here.

We are thankful too to their families who have also sacrificed throughout this ordeal. They are likely celebrating Thanksgiving with an empty chair around the table today, because their loved one is away, protecting the citizens of Morton and Burleigh Counties.

We will continue to pray that the president and the federal government open their eyes to what is happening in our state and finally step up to bring this to a close. We will pray too for the restoration of peace in our communities and for the law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line each day in the name of service.
