Bison make the entire state proud

it’s the kind of success that few teams in any sport at any level have matched.

North Dakota State’s football program now has seven NCAA Division I FCS championship crowns, the most of any team ever. The Bison (15-0) capped a perfect season last weekend, winning their seventh national crown in eight seasons. They have a 112-8 record during that run.

The team has continued its historic run through all of the changes college football programs face and despite whatever adversity was encountered, continues to not just win – but also to dominate.

The NDSU team and entire program make all of North Dakota proud, whether one lives on the east or west side of the state. They have displayed a commitment to excellence that represents North Dakotans well.

Furthermore the team has been an unofficial ambassador for the state. Their longtime excellence attracts attention to North Dakota. They demonstrate that smaller schools in smaller states can still reach and maintain lofty heights.

Imagine people living far from the upper Midwest. The one thing they may know about North Dakota – at least sports fan – is the NDSU football team is the class of the FCS. Oh sure, people who follow news know the Bakken, know the state’s reputation for employment and fiscal conservatism.

But the Bison have been our most dramatic diplomats.

Congratulations to NDSU and Minot Daily News additionally congratulates supporters, graduates, leadership and faculty.

A job well done. Once again.
