This Miss America will make the country proud
We were already proud of our Miss North Dakota Cara Mund before she was crowned Miss America Sunday night. We are certain that in the coming year all of America will fall for this young woman with big plans and dreams.
As the song says, Miss America is “your ideal.”
Talk about a claim to live up to. But Mund seems to have that covered, which is precisely why she now wears the crown.
Her accomplishments to date include graduating from Brown University, an Ivy League school.
Her dreams? They include graduating from law school, entering politics and becoming North Dakota’s first woman governor.
She definitely has qualities that will suit her well including not being afraid to speak her mind. By now you’ve read that she called out the president on national television for a “bad decision” in her answer to a question about climate change.
We love this quote attributed to Mund concerning her answer: “Miss America needs to have an opinion and she needs to know what’s happening in the current climate.”
Yes she does!
So yes, Cara Mund – honest, unafraid, poised – will serve America well in the coming year. And, likely, back home for many years to come, as a role model for other young women who wonder if it’s OK to speak their minds.
