Farewell to Pastor Ken
Rev. Ken Nelson might be leaving Minot, but he will long remain in the hearts of many at First Lutheran Church and in the community at large.
After more than a dozen years, Nelson and family are relocating to Brookfield, Wisconsin, where he will become pastor at Calvary Lutheran Church there. He has strong personal motivations for the move and Minot Daily News joins with his many parishioners and friends in wishing him the absolute best of fortunes.
In his time at First Lutheran, Nelson has touched countless lives. When word of his departure first circulated, Minot Daily News received calls from many of those people, all of them praising Nelson.
In addition, Nelson has been tremendously involved in the community, both individually and by engaging First Lutheran in numerous projects and efforts. First Lutheran has had a tremendous impact on all of Minot. Members of the church have recalled how supportive he was during trying times. Others recount the charitable and community work in which he was involved – always the first to volunteer, to take the lead when needed, to make people’s lives better.
Nelson has served with distinction, epitomizing what one could want from a spiritual leader. Warm, engaging and sincere, he will be as missed as a person as he will as a pastor.
Farewell, Pastor Ken, and best of luck to you and your family with all of your endeavors. Minot will miss you.
