Mourners represent Minot well

A hearty thank-you to those Minot and regional residents who took time out of their Monday nights to join a candlelight vigil at Oak Park. It was good to see the 40-50 people there on a cloudy evening lamenting Saturday night’s terrorist attack on Pulse nightclub in Orlando. Participants put Minot’s best foot forward in joining so many around the world mourning the dead and showing solidarity with victims and victims’ families.

It was uplifting to see so many people being supportive in the aftermath of something that can seem so far away, so far removed.

Within hours of the tragic mass murder, some had already pivoted to attempt to drive the narrative away from this as an act of terrorism. They want to blame guns or blame Donald Trump. One civil liberties leader immediately blamed Christian conservatives. These cowardly ghouls were using this occasion to advance their political agendas before all of the victims were identified.

In Minot, people mourned the loss of innocent fellow Americans as yet more victims of a war being waged on Western Civilization by this millennium’s barbarians. Vigil-goers did Minot proud.
