Three Affiliated Tribes projects are great progress

Congratulations are due to the Three Affiliated Tribes and Chairman Mark Fox for the good news about two important projects.

A $24.8 million drug treatment center project is already being built in Bismarck. Financed entirely by the tribes, the 20,114-square-foot treatment center will include group therapy, administration and a cafeteria. Furthermore, the facility is constructed for expansion. The Three Affiliated Tribes Drug Treatment Center project will be completed in May 2018.

Meanwhile, the Three Affiliated Tribes are making plans to build an assisted living facility in Parshall. Bids for the project are due in August and construction will start shortly after. The 9.9-acre facility will have 20 studio-style resident apartments with a drive-in vehicle garage for ambulance and receiving. The projected $7-8 million project is also financed entirely by the tribes.

Fox had committed to completing both projects during his time as chairman and now both are on the horizon. How refreshing for an elected leader to deliver on promises.

Most importantly, of course, is the tribes’ efforts to bring much needed services to the community. An assisted living facility and a drug treatment center are both tremendous needs in our region, and certainly ones that will be beneficial to tribal members.

Hopefully, both projects excel after they come to fruition.

Godspeed to the initiatives of the Three Affiliated Tribes.
