ND died March 17, 2019
at Trinity Hospital, Minot.
Mass of Christian Burial
will be at 10:30 AM
Wednesday, March 20,
2019 at St. Catherine’s
Catholic Church, Turtle
Lake with Father Patrick
Cunningham officiating.
Visitation will be held
Tuesday from 5:00 PM
until 7:00 PM with a
Rosary/Vigil service at
7:00 PM at the church in
Turtle Lake. Interment
will be held in the Turtle
Lake Cemetery.
Sylvia was born April 2,
1919 on a farm near
Underwood, ND the
daughter of Andrew and
Emma (Ahrens) Grab-
inger. She was raised and
educated in Turtle Lake,
ND. She graduated from
Turtle Lake High School
in 1936. She married
Edgar Britton on April 10,
1937 in Underwood at the
church parsonage. They
lived in Turtle Lake where
Sylvia stayed at home and
raised their two
daughters. Edgar died in
1965 and she later mar-
ried Edward Zwicker in
1980. She was very in ac-
tive in the community,
she was a member of the
Turtle Lake Community
Memorial Hospital Auxili-ary, St. Catherine’s Altar
Society, served as room
mother at Turtle Lake
Public School. Sylvia was
also a Girl Scout Leader
for many years.
She enjoyed cooking,
sewing, embroidery, quilt-
ing, reading and could
often be found in a game
cards or playing Scrabble.
Sylvia will always be
remembered for her boun-
tiful garden and her beau-
tiful flowers. She cher-
ished the time that was
spent with her family and
friends.
Sylvia is survived by
her two daughters, Valerie
(Robert) Besserud of
Minot and Sharon (Wes)
Weible of Turtle Lake; her
two granddaughters,
Heidi (Doug) Quinn and
Tammy Anderson and her
special friend, Chad Pors-
borg and his children; her
great-grandchildren, Lo-
gan, Brady, Zachary,
Matthew Quinn, Blake,
Brooklynn and Bo Ander-
son and many nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in
death by her parents, her
husbands, two sisters,
Viola Nachreiner and Al-
ice Faris, her brothers,
Sylvester, Norbert, Alvin
and Elmer.
The family prefers
memorials to the Turtle
Lake Hospital Building
Fund, St. Catherine’s
Catholic Church or the
Gift of Life Transplant
House in Rochester, MN.
