Dorothy Harris, 86,

Kenmare, died Tuesday,

November 6, 2018, at the

Kenmare Community

Hospital.

Dorothy Ann Nertrost

was born November 27,

1931, in Hennepin Coun-

ty, Minneapolis, Minneso-ta, and was adopted in

July of 1932 by Nels and

Cora (Anderson) Nertrost.

She was raised on the

family farm near Manfred,

ND, and attended school

in Manfred. She graduat-

ed from Manfred High

School.

She then attended

Minot Teacher’s College,

where she received her

Standard Teacher’s Certi-

ficate. She enjoyed her

time teaching in the Ken-

mare Public School sys-

tem and her time as a spe-

cial education teacher was

something she cherished.

Dorothy was once mar-

ried to Dale A. Harris.

They were married at Na-

zareth Lutheran Church

in Kenmare. They made

their home on the family

farm near Kenaston, ND,

for many years before

moving into Kenmare in

the early 1970’s. In 1980,

she moved to Minot and

shortly thereafter to Ar-

izona. She also lived in

Sidney, Montana with her

dear friend, Diane Ford,

and most recently moved

back to Kenmare.

She was a member of

Nazareth Lutheran

Church, Kenmare.

Dorothy was a devoted

mother and grandmother

who enjoyed many activi-ties with her sons. She

traveled to Kenmare and

Minot to watch her sons

and her grandchildren’s

sporting activities and

was a devoted Kenmare

Honkers fan. She loved

bowling with her friends

and traveled to many na-

tional tournaments

throughout the years. She

also loved watching her

Minnesota Vikings and at-

tended numerous games.

She was an avid New

York Yankees fan and

visited the Yankees Stadi-

um in 2008. She also en-

joyed golfing, softball and

her pets.

Her loving family in-

cludes: sons, Steven

Harris, Minot, Douglas

Harris, Heber City, Utah,

and Richard Harris, Ken-

mare; grandchildren, Jen

(Cody) Harris Olsson, Dic-

kinson, ND, Tyler Harris

and his friend, Jen, Minot,

Brandon (Bailey) Harris,

Minot, Macie Harris,

Bismarck, and Hunter

Harris, Kenmare; great-

grandchildren, Maddie

Olsson, and Briar Sue

Harris.

Dorothy was preceded

in death by her parents,

Nels and Cora Nertrost;

her birth mother, Lucille;

and former husband,

Dale.

Funeral: Saturday, No-

vember 10, 2018, at 11:00

am at Nazareth Lutheran

Church, Kenmare.

Interment: Lakeview

Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.

Visitation: Saturday one

hour prior to the service

at the church.
