Irene V. (Young) Sjol

Irene V. (Young) Sjol

was born in the township

of Wyzetta in Mountrail

County to William and

Edna Young on October 6,

1931. She was raised on

her parent’s farm, and in

Parshall, North Dakota.

She married Wendall

Sjol in 1956. Irene helped

raise her two stepchil-

dren, Rick Sjol and Rhon-

da Sjol, along with her

and Wendall’s children,

Ron, Renae, and Roxane

Sjol; later to be divorced.

Irene and her three

youngest children moved

to Williston, ND in 1968

where she worked as a

nursing aid in the nursing

home and hospital. She

also worked cleaning for

different businesses in


Irene loved her children

and her friends and every-

one loved her also. She

was a strong, great lady.

Irene married Jim Iver-

son in 1980 later to be di-

vorced, but always

remained friends.

In 1992 Irene moved to

Lacey, WA to be near her

daughters and grandchil-

dren there.

Irene was preceded in

death by her father, Willi-

am Young; mother, Edna

Young; two brothers, Wil-

liam Jr. and Dale Young;

one sister, Shirley Lind;

and stepson, Rick Sjol.

She is survived by sis-

ter, Beverly Pederson;

children Ronald Sjol

(Dorothy), Renae Tomp-

kins (Dave), Roxane Fors-

berg (Mike), and Rhonda

Basmajian (Sam); grand-

children Jason Sjol

(Janelle), Daniel Sjol,

Mark Griffith (Jessica),

Lindsay Griffith, Jory

Forsberg (Tiffany), Colby

Forsberg, Lauvaun

Basmajian, Sam
