Clouse, 94, formerly of

Carpio, died Wednesday,

Oct. 10, 2018, at a Mohall

nursing home.

She was born Oct. 30,

1923, on the family farm

in Callahan Township,

Renville County, to James

and Clara (Block) Lewis.

She attended Callahan

Township School and gra-

duated from Carpio High

School in 1941.

Evelyn was once mar-

ried to Bernard Clouse, of

the Foxholm area, whom

she married in 1942.

They moved to Eatonville,

Wash., and later to Taco-

ma, Wash., in 1951. They

raised two boys, Alvin

and Francis Clouse. She

returned to North Dakota

in 1970, and helped her

brother, Gordon Lewis, on

the family farm. She lived

on the farm until moving

into Carpio, where she

lived until July 2014. She

resided at care centers in

Minot, Ryder, Stanley and


Evelyn was a member

of Carpio Lutheran

Church. She served as the

correspondent for the

Renville County Farmer

for many years, writing

the Callahan news. She

was a member of the Cal-

lahan Homemakers, en-

joyed vegetable and

flower gardening, and en-

joyed bowling.

Family: sons, Alvin and

Francis Clouse, Tacoma,

Wash.; one grand-

daughter; two great-

grandchildren; and

numerous nieces,

nephews and cousins.

Evelyn was preceded in

death by: her parents; a

grandson; and brother,

Gordon Lewis.

Funeral: 11 a.m., Mon-

day, Oct. 15, 2018, at Car-

pio Lutheran Church, Car-


Burial: Lakeview

Cemetery, Kenmare.

Visitation: Monday, two

hours prior to the service,

at the church.
