Wally “Papa” Stone

Wallace Arthur Stone,

84, Kenmare, ND, passed

away on Tuesday, Sep-

tember 18, 2018 in his

home.

Wally “Papa” Stone was

born on January 4, 1934,

the son of Arthur and

Helen (Brown) Stone in

Chicago, IL. He was raised

and educated in Chicago.

He enlisted into the Unit-

ed States Army, where he

served as a paratrooper

during the Korean War.

On January 17, 1959,

Wally was united in mar-

riage to Darlene Heglund

at Island Lake, IL. They

made their home in IL,

where Wally worked as a

truck driver. In 1984, they

moved to Kenmare, ND,

where he worked as a

meat cutter at the Red

Owl, and later at the Ken-

mare Baptist Home for 20

years prior to his retire-

ment.

He enjoyed trivia, play-

ing Tetris, solitaire and

cribbage. Wally was a

member of Elmdale Luth-

eran Church, Niobe, ND,

and the Kenmare Senior

Citizens. He was a loving

husband, father and

grandfather and will be

missed by all that knew

him.

Surviving family in-

cludes: Wife of 59 years,

Darlene; children, Angela

Cantu, Debra Sibley and

Kevin (Karla) Stone; 7

grandchildren, Erika,

Christine, Mark, John,

Cory, Kyle and Kelli; 2

stepgreat-grandchildren,

Kaylee and Logan; 1

stepgreat-grandchild,

Heath; sisters, Marji Stone

and Linda Adams;

sisters-in-law, Donna

(Ken) Figlik and Carolyn

(Darold) Behnke; and

several nieces, nephews

and cousins.

Wally was preceded in

death by: his parents; son,

Keith; son-in-law, Carlos

Cantu; and his in-laws,

Carl and Esther Heglund.

Memorial Service: Sa-

turday, September 22,

2018 at 2:00 pm at Elm-

dale Lutheran Church,

Niobe, ND

Burial: a private family

committal service will

take place at a later date.

Visitation: There will be

no reviewal, however,

friends may sign the guest

register an hour prior to

the service at the church.
