Rosalee “Rosie” Proell,

87, Garrison, died on Sun-

day, July 22, 2018 at the

Benedictine Living Center

in Garrison. Memorial

services will be held on

Friday, August 3, 2018 at

11:00 am at the First

Congregational Church in

Garrison. Inurnment will

be at the Garrison City

Cemetery.

Rosalee “Rosie” Proell

was born July 16, 1931 to

Vincent and Mary

(Spindler) Kubicek on the

family farm in Blackwater

Township near Emmet,

ND. She attended the

O’Shea country school

and graduated from the

8th grade. She then start-

ed working for Marie Ness

at the Dug-Out Cafe for 2

years. She also worked at

the Garrison Hospital,

Garrison Motel, and the

McLean County Manor as

a housekeeper.

On October 3, 1950 she

married “her one and

only”, Alvin Proell in St.

Cloud, MN. They made

their home in Garrison

and from 1948 to the early

1950’s, Al worked on the

construction of the Garris-on Dam. He also worked

for G.V. Wretling Body

Shop. He then opened

Al’s Body Shop in 1971.

Rosie was the parts

runner when Al needed

parts from Minot or

Bismarck. She also ful-

filled her dream of being a

flag person for Holen Con-

struction for 1 year.

Al and Rosie loved trav-

eling to many states and

went to all but five. Rosie

and Al also spent many

winters in Rockport, TX.

Also, Rosie and her son,

Jerry, traveled to Hawaii

in 1987. And in 1944, Ro-

sie and her sister, Frances

Kurtz, and nephew, Dean

Kurtz, took a trip to their

father’s Homeland in Dol-

ni Dobrouc, Czechoslo-

vakia to visit cousins. It

was such a joy for her to

see and visit them!

Rosie is survived by her

son, LeRoy Proell, San

Tan Valley, AZ; grand-

children, Krisitin (Jake)

Berg, Fargo, ND, Amy

Proell, Bismarck, ND,

Brad (Jean) Phelps, El-

wood, IL, Cory (Carmen)

Phelps, Page, ND, Jared

Proell, Bullard, TX,

Joshua Proell, Garrison,

ND; great-grandchildren,

Lillian and Amelia Berg,

Nick, Ella, Madeline, and

Cole Phelps, Calab, Kylee,

Cynthia, and Keith

Phelps, Jayden and Jacob

Proell; one sister, Angie

Chistopherson; and many

nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in

death by her parents, hus-

band, Al, daughter, Cindy,

son, Jerry, a grandaughter,

Jennifer Rose Proell, sis-

ters, Dorothy Bruhn,

Frances Kurtz, Albina

Hopkins, and Helen Mikk-

elson.
