Mary Hambek

Mary (New) Hambek

passed away February 26,

2018 at the age of 90. She

was born in 1927 to

George and Pearl New in

Glenburn, ND, one of 10

children. The family

eventually settled in

Minot, ND.

She married Charles

Hambek Jr. in 1945 in

Minot where they farmed;

eventually they moved

into Minot. In 1961 they

moved to Edgeley, ND

where they lived for many

years. Mary owned and

operated Mary’s Fashions

and Charlie’s Menswear.

She co-owned Edgeley

Dry Cleaners and

Charlie’s Barn with her

husband. They then

moved to Jud, ND owning

Jud Bar. In 1993 they re-

tired to Garrison, ND

where they loved to fish

and garden. After the

death of her husband she

moved back to Minot,

then to Lakewood, CO

and Andover, MN to be

close to her daughters.

Due to health reasons

she entered Camilla Rose

Care Center in Coon Ra-

pids, MN. She was

Resident Council

President and loved parti-

cipating in activities. She

was loved at the Center

for her constant smile,

sense of humor, and kind-

ness to all.

Mary loved to fish, oil

paint, play cards, and

bingo; she excelled at

Trivia. She loved to travel

and visit her family.

Mary is survived by:

daughters, Charlene Kirk-

patrick of Andover, MN,

Julie (Steve) Nelson of

Edgeley, ND, Gloria

(Bruce) Uchida of Lake-

wood, CO, and Robin

West of Fargo, ND; 7

grandchildren; 20

great-grandchildren; 4


sisters-in-law, Helen New,

Corrine New, Vanette

Hambek, Mary Agnes

Soltis; and longtime

friend Irene Gilmore.

She is preceded in

death by: her husband,

Charles; parents; 3 sisters;

6 brothers; and

son-in-law, Pat.

She will be buried next

to her husband at Rosehill

Cemetery in Minot, ND.
