Lois Ann Weidler, 83,

Velva, ND, passed away

Monday, February 26,

2018, at the Souris Valley

Care Center in Velva.

Lois Ann Dahle was

born August 28, 1934, the

daughter of Irvin and Mil-

dred (Rogers) Dahle, in

Lemmon, SD. She was

raised in Lemmon until

1936, when she and her

family moved to a farm

south of Velva. In 1938,

she and her family moved

to Truax-Traer Coal Mine

Camp. She graduated

from Velva High School

in 1951. During her high

school years, she worked

in Velva for J.C. Penney.

Lois Ann was united in

marriage to Harold

Weidler October 13, 1952,

at Oak Valley Lutheran

Church in Velva. They

made their home on the

farm south of Velva until

1956, when they moved to

a farm west of Velva.

Then in 1964, they moved

to Harold’s parents’ farm

south of Velva, where

they still call home. Dur-

ing this time, she raised

their family and worked

on the farm. When she

was not working outside,

she was in the house sew-

ing for her children and

grandchildren. She also

enjoyed doing crafts along

with making many chick-

en scratch lunch cloths.

As the grandchildren

came along, she tried to

attend all of their sporting

and school activities. Lois

entered the Souris Valley

Care Center in the fall of


She was a member of

the Velva United Metho-

dist Church and their

women’s society, where

she held many offices and

helped to arrange many

funeral fellowships. She

was also a member of the

Sew & Sew Club, served

as the Brown Township

Assessor for many years,

and was a volunteer for

Souris Valley Care Center.

Lois Ann was a loving

wife, mother, grandmoth-

er, great-grandmother,

and sister, who will be

missed by all who knew


Her loving family in-

cludes: husband of 65

years, Harold, Velva; chil-

dren, Allan Weidler, Vel-

va, Dean (Melonie)

Weidler, Velva, David

(Susan) Weidler, Velva,

and Jane Weidler (Todd

(Cory) Weidler, and Sarah

Kolter, Hudson, Ava, and

Augustus; and baby Ys-

taas (who is due in March

of 2018); brothers, Jim

(Susan) Dahle, Bottineau;

brothers-in-law, Leo

Busch, Olympia, OR, and

Robert Weidler, Voltaire;

and several nieces and


Lois Ann was preceded

in death by: her parents;

father-in-law and

mother-in-law, Fred and

Martha Weidler; sister,

Karen Busch.

Funeral: Friday, March

2, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at

Oak Valley Lutheran

Church, Velva.

Interment: Velva Com-

munity Cemetery, Velva,


Visitation: Thursday

from 5 to 7 p.m. at

Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home, Velva.
