Gloria Kallias, 78,

Minot, ND, formerly of

Deering, ND, passed away

Monday, March 5, 2018,

in a Minot hospital.

Gloria J. Hatley was

born June 27, 1939, the

daughter of Leonard and

Hilda (Wojahn) Hatley, at

Trinity Hospital in Minot,

ND. Gloria was baptized

and confirmed in the

Deering Lutheran Church,

where she also taught

Sunday School and Bible

School. She graduated as

Valedictorian from Deer-

ing High School in 1957.

Gloria was raised on the

family farm east of Deer-

ing. She loved the peace

and quiet of farm life and

the outdoors. She helped

her dad with the field

work during her younger


Gloria married Richard

Kallias on July 10, 1959 in

the Deering Lutheran

Church. They made their

home in Minot.

After graduation, Gloria

went to work at Union

National Bank, where she

continued to work for the

next 38 years. While at

the bank, she also took

some courses at Minot

State University. After re-

tiring from the bank,

Gloria later went to work

at Sykes Enterprises as an

Office Administrator for 9


Richard passed away on

April 28, 2003.

Gloria volunteered at

the Norsk Hostefest and

was a member of the

Minot Banking Associa-

tion. She served on vari-

ous committees during

her banking career. She

was also on a bowling

league for several years.

Gloria enjoyed fishing at

Parshall Bay, where they

had a lake home. She also

went deer and pheasant

hunting with her hus-

band. Gloria always en-

joyed being with her fami-

ly and friends and per-

forming favorite pastime:

several nieces, nephews

and cousins.

Gloria was preceded in

death by her parents and

her husband of 43 years,

Richard Kallias.

Funeral: Thursday,

March 8, 2018, at 11:00

a.m. at Bethany Lutheran-

Church, Minot, ND.

Interment: Will take

place in the spring at

Deering Lutheran

Cemetery, Deering, ND.

Visitation: At Gloria’s

request, there will be no

reviewal, but friends are
