H. Myron Hanson, 94 of

Lisbon, North Dakota

formerly of New Rock-

ford, North Dakota died

Friday, February 2, 2018

at the North Dakota

Veterans Home, Lisbon.

Myron was born on

September 18, 1923 in

Hamar, North Dakota the

son of John and Ella

(Rude) Hanson. He was

raised and educated in

Hamar. At 20 years old,

Myron was drafted into

the United States Army

serving in WWII. He was

part of the 334th Infantry


84th“Railsplitters” Divi-

sion as a 60MM Motor

Ammo Carrier and

Gunner. Myron served in

the Battle of the Bulge in

Ardennes and battles in

Rhineland and central Eu-

rope. He was well

decorated for his service.

Myron was awarded the

Bronze star, Combat In-

fantry Badge, European

Theater Ribbon, WWII

Victory Medal, the Good

Conduct medal, Dis-

tinguished Unit Citation,

and the Army of Occupa-

tion Medal. After receiv-

ing an honorable

discharge, he returned to

the family farm and ranch

to help his father.

Myron was united in

marriage to Belva Tol-

lefsrud in Tolna, North

Dakota. They made their

home on the Hanson

Farm, where Myron con-

tinued to farm and ranch

until 1963, when he went

to Lake Region Junior Col-

lege to further his educa-

tion. He received an asso-

ciate degree in Survey En-

gineering. Myron went to

work for the United States

Government as a Bureau

of Reclamation Surveyor

working in North Dakota

and Montana. After his re-

tirement, Myron contin-

ued to farm and ranch but

also, tended to the garden,

flowers and planted many

trees around the farm.

Myron and Belva en-

joyed traveling, especially

the trip they took to Nor-

way. They also enjoyed

camping, which they

started doing shortly after

their marriage. They took

many trips with their chil-

dren throughout the Unit-

ed States, including Alas-

ka, and Canada. Myron

was also an avid Class B

Basketball fan. He cher-

ished time spent with his

family, especially his

ensack, MN; Lyndon Han-

son of Hamar, ND; Col-

leen (Troy) Kraft of Argus-

ville, ND; Kyle (Deslee Ol-

son) Hanson of Fargo, ND;

Shannon (Jim) Olson of

Fargo, ND; eight

grandchildren, Jade Eisen-

zimmer, Alana and Colton

Kraft, Brooke (Rick)

Ramirez, Dalton Hanson,

Denis, Jacob and Nicholas

Olson, two


Penelope and Noah

Ramirez; two sisters,

Averiel Enger of Grand

Forks, ND; Verna Sauer of

New Rockford, ND;

numerous nieces and


Myron was preceded in

death by: his parents,

wife, Belva (2005), three

infant siblings and broth-

er, Darroll Hanson.

dan, ND.
