Nada Butz
June 5, 1932-Jan. 6, 2018
Nada Butz, lifelong
resident of Minot, died
unexpectedly at the age of
85, Saturday, January 6,
2018, at her home.
Nada was born June 5,
1932, in Minot, a daughter
of George and Carrie
(Sween) Osdoba. Reared
in Minot, she attended
Lincoln Elementary
School and graduated
from Minot High School
in 1950. She attended
Minot State University
where she was a member
of Beta Theta Sorority and
was an MSU 1952 Miss
Beaver candidate.
July 17, 1952, Nada
married Staff Sergeant Al-
len F. Butz from Clyde
Ohio, stationed at Minot
Air Force Base. They
made their home in Minot
and raised four children.
Early in their marriage,
she was employed at
Minot Federal Savings &
Loan Association (later
Midwest Savings & Loan),
and the North Dakota Vo-

Nada was a strong
woman who gave her full
attention to a number of
activities. She was ad-
mired in many of her en-
deavors, for she gave it
her all. Her favorite activi-
ties were singing, syn-
chronized swimming,
dance, and golf. Her hus-
band described her as a
“passionate” golfer, al-
ways arriving at tee time
15 minutes early. She
served two years as
president of the Souris
Valley Women’s Golf
League.
As a life long member
of Zion Lutheran Church
in Minot, she sang in the
choir for many years and
served on the church
council and other church
committees. Not only was
she a dedicated member
of Minotone Chapter of
Sweet Adelines, but also
served as the barbershop
group president. Her love
for singing placed her in
the so called
“Honeyhuggers Quartet”
covering the bass part.
Nada’s high level of
leadership also placed her
as president of the Phi
Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi
National Sorority, board
member and treasurer of
the Minot Art Association,
and of the Minot YMCA.
She took the lead in her
high school class and or-
ganized many class reun-
ions. Nada greatly valued
lasting friendships and or-
ganized many fun
get-togethers throughout
the years.
