Kenneth Young

June 29, 1924-Jan. 15, 2018

Kenneth Young, age 93

of Antler, died Monday at

a Bottineau nursing home.

His funeral will be held:

on Tuesday, January 23,

2018 at 2:00 pm at the

Bethel Lutheran Church

near Antler. Visitation:

will be one hour prior to

service time at the

church. Burial: will be at

the Antler Cemetery.

Kenny was born June

29, 1924, on the farm in

Antler to Charles and Ef-

fie Young. He grew and

attended school in Antler,

where he graduated in

1942. He helped his fami-

ly on the farm and was

just 6 years old when he

began delivering milk.

Kenny played on the

Antler basketball team. In

1942, he helped them win

the country tournament.

Kenny attended Minot

State University, where he

studied elementary educa-

tion. After he earned his

degree, he taught for one

year in Kenmare and

three years in Mohall be-

fore he returned to Antler

where taught for 33 years

until the school closed in

1976. Kenny watched

three generations of

young people come in and

out of his classroom in

Antler and often talked

fondly of his time at all

three schools. He impact-

ed their lives and served

as a fine example for them

all. As well as being a

teacher, Kenny coached

Antler’s pee wee basket-

ball team for many years.

While teaching, he also

continued to work on the

farm. He tended cattle,

sheep and poultry while

raising crops and cutting

hay. After the Antler

school closed, Kenny con-

tinued to farm while car-

ing for his mother and

brother, Bob.

Kenny loved his life in

Antler and on the farm.

He enjoyed visiting with

his neighbors and ad-

mired the people who

breathed new life into the

small community. He had

a tender heart and a kind

soul, both of which will

be missed by the many

people who knew and

loved him.

Kenny is survived by: a

niece, Patty Seward of

Walnut Creek, California

and a nephew, Mark

Young of Olathe, Kansas.

He was preceded in

death by: his parents; four

brothers, Morris, Duane,

Bob and Mervin; and a

sister, Vivian.

Kenny’s wish was that

in lieu of cards or flowers,

donations would be made

on his behalf to the Bethel

Sunday School, the N.D.

Boys Ranch or the charity

of your choice.
