Donald Robert Linnertz
Feb. 1, 1945-Dec.30,2017
Donald Robert Linnertz
– 72, Minot, passed away
suddenly on Saturday,
December 30 surrounded
by his Our Lady of Grace
parish family.
Donald Robert was born
on February 1, 1945 the
son of Robert and Helen
(Keith) Linnertz. He was
raised in Northwest Minot
on the family farm, instil-
ling a lifelong love of this
place and his land. He at-
tended St. Leo’s and gra-
duated from Minot Model
High School in 1964.
On October 10, 1964 he
was united in marriage at
St. John the Apostle
Church to Sallie (Young),
his wife of 42 years. One
year later his only son
Donald Lee was born.
Ever the prankster,
Donald touched the lives
of many and got into our
hearts with lots of practi-
cal jokes, funny stories
and his willingness to al-
ways lend a hand. He
was a friend to all and
will be missed and cher-
ished forever.
His first of many
careers was in dairy farm-
ing, but his interest in all
things mechanical led
him to work in welding,
small engine repair and
electronics repair, for
which he earned multiple
certifications as a welding
repair specialist. Even in
retirement his repair busi-
ness brought daily calls
for his quality work and
sage advice.
Donald was a member
of the Knights of
Columbus and Minot
Moose Lodge. His hob-
bies included operating
HAM and CB radios,
building and flying model
airplanes and giving ad-
vice (mostly about repair
work!). He loved to
dance, play Bingo and call
on friends with that fami-
liar phrase “I came to pick
on you!”
Donald was preceded
in death by: his parents
and his brother Paul as
well as dear friends and
companions Ramona
Jakshe and Minerva Paige.
He is survived by: his
son Donald Lee (Scott
Wallace), brother Dennis
(Janice Fiedler) and sister
Clarice Granzotto (Gary)
and four nephews and a
niece.
