Hedberg, 69, rural Carpio,
died Monday, Nov. 13,
2017, surrounded by his
family at his home.
He was born Feb. 24,
1948, in Minot, to Leroy
and Helen (Yale) Hedberg.
He was raised on the
family farmstead near
Carpio and graduated
from Carpio High School
in 1967.
In 1968, Barry was
drafted into the U.S.
Army. He completed his
basic training at Fort
Lewis, Wash., and then
headed to Fort Sam Hous-
ton in Texas where he
completed his medic
training. Barry served our
country during the Viet-
nam War from 1968 to
1969. On his 21st birth-
day, Barry received a
bronze star for his heroic
action saving three com-
rades while under fire.
He also received a com-
mendation medal for
bravery. He was honor-
ably discharged in 1970.
Barry was united in
marriage to Nancy Larson
on Sept. 14, 1968, at Car-
pio Lutheran Church.
From this union, two sons
were born: Troy Lynn
and Travis Daniel. They
were later divorced. He
spent 25 years with Darla
Zimny; they later separat-
ed. He spent the last four
years with his companion,
Lonnie Anderson. They
spent a winter together in
Arizona and enjoyed
spending time together at
the farm.
Barry farmed and
ranched his family’s land
north of Carpio. He en-
joyed hunting, fishing and
spending time with his
grandkids, trips to the
casino and working with
his boys.

nephews, cousins, aunts
and uncles.
Barry was preceded in
death by: his brother,
Dennis Hedberg.
Funeral: 1 p.m., Satur-
day, Nov. 18, 2017, at Car-
pio Lutheran Church, Car-
pio.
Burial: Grano
Cemetery, Grano.
Family Service: 7 p.m.,
Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at
the church.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m.,
Friday, at the church.
