Evelyn Simonieg Hol-
larn, 106, of Minot, form-
erly of Lansford died on
October 17, 2017 at her
home.
Evelyn was born Oc-
tober 17, 1911 on the fam-
ily farm near Lansford.
Evelyn was the daughter
of John and Rose (Gorshe)
Simonieg. Evelyn graduat-ed from the 8th grade in a
one room country school.
In 1929, she graduated
from Glenburn High
School and attended Col-
lege of St. Catherine in St.
Paul, MN and later attend-ed State Teachers College
in Minot. She worked for
several years in Mpls. and
to help with the war effort
she worked at Boeing in
Renton, WA in the Blue
Print Department.
Evelyn married Byron
Hollarn of Grand Forks on
September 17, 1942 in
Seattle, WA. In 1945 they
returned to ND to take
over the Simonieg family
farm. In 1950 they built a
home in Lansford and
lived there until 1978.
They traveled and spent
several winters in Arizo-
na. Evelyn and Byron
were married 52 years
many of which were on
the farm they loved. In
1995, Byron died and
Evelyn moved to Minot in
1998. Evelyn loved spend-
ing time with her family,
was a member of The Lit-
tle Flower Catholic
Church, belonged to
several clubs, received a
25-year pin for her ser-
vices in the Lansford Girl
Scout program. After
moving to Minot, Evelyn
loved playing bridge,
whist and pinochle, read-
ing and watching CNN.

Evelyn was blessed with 9
Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by: her parents,
husband, sister, Marie
Hertel, and an infant
brother and infant sister.
