Sula May Bruins, 73,
Minot and formerly of
Donnybrook, died on Sa-
turday, September 23,
2017, in a Minot hospital
from complications relat-
ed to cancer with her lov-
ing family at her side.
Sula was born on
March 31, 1944, in Ken-
mare, ND to Otto and Leo-
na (Cline) Scharbow. She
was reared and educated
in Donnybrook, graduated
from Donnybrook High
School in 1962 and re-
ceived specialized train-
ing in accounting at the
Minot Business College.
As a young adult she was
employed as a bookkeeper
at Ace Hardware.
Sula married Leo
Bruins on May 23, 1964,
in Minot. They made
their home in Fargo brief-
ly before returning to
Minot later in the year.
Sula was employed as a
bookkeeper at TBA, Home
of Economy,
Northwestern Equipment
and Minot Feed Center
prior to finishing her
career at St. Joseph’s and
Trinity Hospitals from
1980 until 2009.
Sula attended Our
Redeemers Church in
Minot and was a member
of the Minot Trail Riders
organization and the
Ward County Dive and
Rescue Team. Also, she
was a 4-H leader in her
younger years. She espe-
cially enjoyed bowling,
sewing and volunteer
work.
Sula’s loving family in-
cludes: her husband of 53
years: Leo; children: Elise
(Sean) Harron of Kingman
AZ, Clinton (Paige) Bruins
of Florence AZ, Lana
(Dan) Clouser of Bethesda
MD and Darla (Alan) Ho-
ward of Cando; eight
grandchildren: Tana Meis-
ter, Bennett Rowell, Sa-
mantha and Nanami
Clouser, Payton, Grant
and Garrett Howard, and
Wyatt Roberts; two
great-grandchildren:
Teagan and Titus Bil-
lirakis; siblings: Elvina
Rockeman of Minot and
Linda (Ira) Scherrer of
Bellevue WA and several
nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Sula was preceded in
death by: her parents,
brother-in-law Howard
Rockeman, and grandson,
Tanner Rowell.

of Sula Bruins: Wednes-
day, September 27, 2017
at 1:00 p.m. in Our Redee-
mers Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill
Memorial Cemetery,
Minot.
Visitation: Tuesday
from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00
p.m. in Thomas Family
Funeral Home, Minot.
