Robert Taylor, 70, Stan-
ley, died Thursday, Sep-
tember 7, 2017 in a Stan-
ley hospital. A memorial
service is scheduled for
Saturday, September 23,
2017 at 2 p.m. in Springan
Funeral Home, Stanley.
“Bob” was born in
February 1947 in Derry,
New Hampshire to Alice
and Robert Taylor. He
had a younger and an old-
er sister. He graduated
from high school in Man-
chester, NH and proceed-
ed on to St. Anselm Col-
lege in Manchester where
he studied Latin, Greek,
and philosophy. He mar-
ried Janice Trulson from
Palermo, ND, in 1968. He
graduated from college in
1969. After college, he
was drafted into the U.S.
Army and was subse-
quently stationed in El
Paso, TX. Son Rob was
born during his service
obligation in 1971. Once
Bob’s military obligation
was completed, he and
Jan moved to Stanley for a
short period of time and
then moved back to the
East coast in 1972 where
he was employed by W.T.
Grants until 1976.
They returned to Stan-
ley to run a restaurant for
a couple of years. Follow-ing two years in the res-
taurant business, Bob en-
tered the oil field working
for various companies un-
til which time he retired
in 2009 from Plains truck-
ing. Bob and Jan wel-
comed son Tyler in 1982
and daughter Ashley in
1985. Tyler continues to
reside in Stanley with his
wife Kori and two
daughters. Ashley lives
in St. Paul with boyfriend
Taylor and dog Beretta.
Oldest son Rob, wife
Karen and 2 sons are in
New Prague, MN.
Bob enjoyed watching
NASCAR, gardening and
collecting antiques. Bob
and Jan divorced in 2003.
He was preceded in death
by his parents and older
sister Beverly. Besides
his children, he leaves
behind his dog, Bella,
who has been “adopted”
by Elmer and Carol Nel-
son. Memorials are pre-
ferred to Mountrail Coun-
ty Medical Center in Stan-
ley.
