Olive (Ollie) Olson
Nov 12, 1917-Sept. 23, 2017
Olive (Ollie) Olson, age
99, of Minot, formerly of
Glenburn passed away on
Saturday, September 23,
2017 in a Stanley nursing
home.
Olive was born on No-
vember 12, 1917, south of
Tagus, ND to Lars and
Martha (Oynes) Bjelland.
She was raised and edu-
cated in Tagus graduating
from High School in 1936
as Valedictorian. She was
united in marriage to Clif-
ford Olson on April 25,
1938. They lived and
farmed on Cliff’s parent’s
farm in Aurelia, later
moving to Tagus and fi-
nally to Glenburn where
they continued farming
until retirement. Olive
was a mother, homemak-
er, farm helper and also
cooked one year at the
Glenburn school. Olive’s
parents immigrated to
America from Norway
which made her very
proud of her heritage.
Thus her given name Alev
was later changed to
Olive. She could speak,
read and write in
Norwegian and made
three trips to Norway
visiting relatives. She was
a member of the Minot
Chapter of the Sons of
Norway working and
making rommegrot at
Hostfest since its begin-
ning, missing only the last
few years. A woman of
strong faith, she was an
active member of Trinity
Lutheran Church in Glen-
burn, serving as a pastoral
assistant, a WELCA
member and Sunday
School teacher. Other ac-
tivities included
Homemakers, Senior Ci-
tizens and also serving as
a 4-H leader. Favorite pas-
times included crochet-
ing, reading, traveling and
watching Twins baseball.
She enjoyed attending
most baptisms, confirma-
tions, graduations, and
weddings of her
grandchildren and
