Meredith Jung

Meredith Ann Jung,

daughter of the late Cletus

Jung and the late Eliza-

beth (Betty Garrett Jung)

Eman, was born in Minot,

ND on December 8, 1955.

She lived her life with

determination, kindness,

an infectious laugh, and

unwavering faith, often

crediting Jesus for her

success and leaning on

His strength daily.

Meredith’s interest in

athletics began at an early

age, when she played soft-

ball for Minot Standard

Sparks. She attended

grade school and high

school in Surrey, ND and

graduated in 1974. She at-

tended Dickinson State

University in Dickinson,

ND, and graduated in

1976 with an Associate of

Arts degree. In the 1990’s,

Meredith was inducted

into the Dickinson State

University Athletic Hall of

Fame in recognition of her

achievements as a

member of the Basketball

Team and also in recogni-

tion of her achievements

on the Track & Field

Team.

Meredith headed west

and attended Flathead

Valley Community Col-

lege Kalispell, MT for

about a year. Next,

Meredith earned a

Bachelor of Arts degree in

1978 from Whitworth

University in Spokane,

WA. A gifted athlete and

marksman, Meredith won

numerous awards in

basketball, track, weight

lifting and sharp shooting.

Meredith enjoyed playing

with the Dallas Diamonds

in the Women’s Profes-

sional Basketball League.

Meredith was brave,

service-oriented and in-

dependent in endeavors

that called her to live

away from family and her

hometown. She worked

for Pepperdine University

and was highly endorsed

by its weight lifting coach-

ing staff for her talents.

During her career she

held several security po-

sitions and also served

with the Sacramento Pol-

ice Department. Commit-

ted to giving back,

Meredith also volunteered

much of her time the past

few years at The Veterans

Home of California — Bar-

stow. Meredith enjoyed

taking treats to residents,

and learning about their

families and military mis-

sions.

On April 21, 2017,

Meredith drowned in the

Colorado River, near Nee-

dles, CA.

Meredith’s loving fami-

ly includes brothers:

Bryce Jung, Neil Jung; sis-

ters: Joyce (Ron) Solberg,

Donna (Terry) Medler,

Dolores Pilch, MaryAnn

(Brad) Taft and Anita

Reich; her sister-in-law

Linda Jung; step sisters:

Dorothy Christiansen,

Darleen Klemp, and Loret-

ta Kunkel; and numerous

nieces, nephews, and

cousins. Meredith was

preceded in death by: her

father, mother, stepfather

Emil Eman, sister Janie

Jung and brother Gary

Jung.

Meredith’s life will be

celebrated: August 19, at

11:00 am at Oak Park

shelter #7, near the Na-

ture Prayer, in Minot.

Lunch will be served. A

private,Burial will follow.
