Patrick Bohan

Patrick Bohan, devoted

husband, father, and

grandfather, passed away

peacefully July 7, 2017

surrounded by his family

at Trinity Hospital after a

brief battle with cancer.

He was 81.

Pat was born July 27,

1935 in Yonkers, NY, the

first child of Patrick and

Nora Bohan. He was

raised in Yonkers and gra-

duated from St. Ann’s

Catholic High School,

Queens, NY in 1953. He

enlisted in the United

States Air Force in No-

vember of 1953, serving at

Keesler Air Force Base in

Biloxi, MS before being

transferred to Minot Air

Force Station as an air-

man in 1954. While sta-

tioned at the radar base,

Pat met Marilyn Phipps of

Minot. They were married

at St. Leo’s Catholic

Church on June 29, 1957.

Within three years, the

Bohans had three sons

Brad, Mike, and Tim.

While raising a young

family, Patrick enrolled at

Minot State College, gra-

duating in June of 1961

with a Bachelor of Sci-

ence in Business Educa-

tion. Two additional chil-

dren, son Terry and

daughter Mary arrived a

decade later.

Pat spent most of his

professional career work-

ing for Midwest Federal

Savings and Loan (former-ly Minot Federal) in

Minot. He served as a loan

officer, personnel direc-

tor, training supervisor,

and vice president before

retiring in 1990. Pat and

his family were faithful

parishioners at St. John

the Apostle Church in

Minot. He was a member

of several Minot service

organizations, including

the Elks Club, the Knights

of Columbus, and the Jay-

cees. He was a speech

contributor to the Toast-

masters of Minot and a

strong supporter of

Bishop Ryan High School.

Pat was an avid reader of

history, especially litera-

ture about World War I

and World War II. He

consumed countless

books on military history

checked out at the Minot

Public Library and Minot

State University Library.

Patrick is survived by:

his loving wife of 60 years

Marilyn (Phipps) Bohan of

Minot; sons, Brad (Marla)

Bohan of Minot, Mike

(Barb) Bohan of Minot,

Tim (Tammy) Bohan of

Bismarck, Terry (Karrie)

Bohan of Grand Forks and

daughter, Mary (Shane)

Wendel of Carrington; 14

grandchildren and 5

great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in

death by: his parents;

brother, John, all of Yonk-

ers, NY; father-in-law,

Frank Phipps and

mother-in-law, Arlene

(Coates) Phipps of Minot.

Dad was a committed

family member who was

always present for his chil-

dren and grandchildren.

His blue Irish eyes will be

with us forever.

In lieu of flowers,

memorials are preferred

to Bishop Ryan Catholic

School.

al: Wednesday, July 12,

2017, at 10 a.m. at St.

John The Apostle Catholic

Church, Minot.

Visitation: Tuesday,

July 11, 2017 from 5 p.m.

until 7 p.m. with a Vigil

Prayer Service at 7 p.m.

all at the church.

Burial: Rosehill

Memorial Park, Minot.
