Gerald Johansen, 84,
Ryder, passed away
peacefully Saturday, July
1, 2017, in a Minot hospi-
tal.
Gerald was born Nov.
17, 1932, to William and
Lena Johansen on the
Johansen farm northeast
of Ryder. He graduated
from Ryder High School
in 1950. From November
1951 to November 1955,
he served in the U.S. Air
Force stationed at Moses
Lake, Wash. He worked in
Supply. He was honorably
discharged with the rank
of staff sergeant.
He and Delina Horob
were married Oct. 6, 1957,
in New Town. They lived
on a farm northwest of
Ryder. Gerald farmed his
entire life.
Gerald was a member of
Calvary Presbyterian
Church, Ryder, and
served on its board. He
was also a member of the
Farmers Union Oil Board,
Anna Township Board,
American Legion L.C. Jen-
sen Post 99 and Happy
Hour Senior Citizens, all
of Ryder.
Survivors include: wife
of 59 years, Delina, of
Ryder; son, Bryce (Nan-
cy), Ryder; daughters,
Brenda (David) Rehnke,
Peoria, Ariz., and Laurie
(Mark) Reece, Albu-
querque, N.M.; five
grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; and
brother, Russel (Jeanette)
Johansen, Minot.
He was preceded in
death by: his parents; and
brothers, Robert and Da-
vid.
Visitation: Saturday,
July 8, 2017 one hour pri-
or to the service at the
church.
Funeral: Saturday, July
8, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Cal-
vary Presbyterian Church,
Ryder, with Pastor
Jonathan Starks officiat-
ing. Following the service,
lunch will be served in
the Senior Citizens
Center, Ryder.
Burial: Monday, July
10, 2017 at noon at North
Dakota Veterans
Cemetery, Mandan.
Memorials: Preferred to
the American Cancer So-
ciety.
