Colleen Learned

Colleen Mary (Ander-

son) Learned, 63, of Can-

do, ND passed away

peacefully on June 14,

2017 at the Towner Coun-

ty Medical Center Swing

Bed unit in Cando, ND

after suffering a stroke on

March 14, 2017. A Cele-

bration of Life will be

held at a later date to be

announced.

Colleen was born to

Adeline (Wisland) and

John (Jack) Callahan in

Minot, ND on January 23,

1954. She grew up in

Ryder, ND after Adeline

married Winston Ander-

son. Colleen graduated

from North Shore High

School in Makoti, ND in

1972, and from St. Luke’s

School of Radiology in

Fargo, ND in 1974. She

then moved to Cando, ND

for her first job as the

manager of the Radiology

Department at Towner

County Medical Center.

She married Tim Learned

in Ryder, ND on May 1,

1976, and they continued

to live in Cando. In 1989,

Colleen changed jobs and

made the move (and the

drive) to Mercy Hospital

in Devils Lake, ND where

she continued to work in

Radiology. She enjoyed

the challenges, experience

and her co-workers, who

were also great friends.

She became certified in

CT and was an active

member of the ND Society

of Radiological Technolo-

gists. She was the

president for a time and

also served on the board

as well. Colleen became

involved with ND Legisla-tion regarding requiring a

specialty in all modalities.

It was important to her to

support and protect the

people and techs in criti-

cal access hospitals. Col-

leen retired on March 2,

2017.

Colleen loved spending

time with Tim and their

corgis, Ike & Quigley. She

enjoyed exercising, Bon-

ko, reading, and spending

time with family and

friends. She was an avid

quilter for many years,

and there are several

grateful recipients of her

generosity. She was for-

tunate to attend quilt

shows in Duluth, Chicago

and Houston. As she tran-

sitioned to her retirement,

she became involved with

the Lutheran Church

quilting group. Colleen

also enjoyed traveling in

the past several years with

her family to many loca-

tions throughout the US.

One of her favorites was

to Alaska, including Van-

couver and Whistler, BC.

Colleen is survived by:

her husband, Tim

Learned, of Cando; her

sister, Vicki Anderson, of

Eagan, MN; her brother,

John (Jonette) Anderson,

of Houston, TX; her niece,

Kristi (Dustin) Conrad, of

Ohio; her nephew, Aaron

Anderson, of Washington;

and several cousins.

Colleen was preceded

in death by: her father,

John (Jack) Callahan, and

by her parents, Adeline

and Winston Anderson.

Also by dogs Pearl, Sid-

ney & Ivy.

Colleen chose to be an

organ donor and to be

cremated.
