Stanley, passed away
Tues., Feb 21, 2017 in a
Garrison care center.
Omar was born April 26,
1928 in Stanley to Albert
and Nazema (Jaha) Ham-
dan. He was raised in
Stanley where he attend-
ed school until he had to
quit school to work on the
family farm. He served in
the U.S. Army until his
honorable discharge in
1951.
He worked many jobs
throughout his life, in-
cluding as a taxi driver,
custom combiner, truck
driver hauling rock, and
section line on the rail-
road. In between jobs, he
always returned to the
farm to help when need-
ed. Omar was known best
around the area working
construction as an excel-
lent dry wall worker do-
ing sheet rocking, taping
and texturing.
Omar married his best
friend and soulmate, Pau-
lette Wood, in 1969. They
lived in Williston for a
short time before return-
ing to Stanley in 1970
where they raised their
four children, Candous,
Jacqueline, Nichol, and
Mitchel. Paulette passed
away in 2003.
Omar was a true char-
acter with a great sense of
humor. He enjoyed hav-
ing spirited debates with
people, playing pull-tabs,
and playing Phase 10 with
family and friends. He en-
joyed the many news pro-
grams on cable TV. He
was a member of the
American Legion.
Omar is survived by:
his children, Candous
Christensen (Todd) of Far-
go, Jackie Schroeder
(Roger) of Stanley, Nichol
Bruhn (Jerimey) of Blais-
dell, Mitchel Hamdan
(Bryana) of Stanley and
Sheila Moore (Dennis) of
Santa Rosa, CA;
grandchildren, Christifer,
Cody H., Cortney, Colton,
Nicholas, Lakyn, Kayla,
Jessica, Mitchel, Drew,
Zanna, Jamie, Cierra, Bro-
den, Ashlee, Cody M.,
Benjamin, and Averi ;
great-grandchildren,
Kyler, Mason; Ruthie, So-
phia, and Francisco; sis-
ters, Ida George, Susie
Pearson and Eva Dixon;
many nieces, nephews
and cousins.
He was preceded in
death by: his parents;
soulmate, Paulette; si-
blings, Hamid, Irene, and
Dorothy; special uncle,
Hassin Abdallah and
life-long friend, Argyle
Helland.
Funeral: Sat. Feb 25 at
11 a.m. in American Luth-
eran Church, Stanley.
Visitation: Fri. from 10
a.m. to 5 p.m. in Springan
Funeral Home, Stanley.
Interment: Moslem
Cemetery, rural Ross.
