Lucile Bergeson

July 1, 1935-Feb. 18, 2017

Lucile A. Bergeson, 81,

Minot, formerly of Mako-

ti, died Saturday, Febru-

ary 18, 2017 in a Minot

hospital, with family at

her side.

Lucile was born on July

1, 1935 to Frank and Alice

(Dirkach) Pank in rural

Makoti, ND. She was

raised on the farm near

Makoti, and went to a

country school from age

five through 8th grade.

She graduated from

Makoti High School in

1953.

Lucile was united in

marriage to Melvyn Berge-

son on July 1, 1953 in

Minot. Throughout the

years, they resided in rur-

al Makoti, Odessa, WA for

one year, then back in

Minot, ND, where Lucile

was employed at Victory

Cafe for two years. They

moved to a farm in Orlien

Township where they

resided until 1962, when

they moved to farm south

of Des Lacs. After a

five-year stay, they re-

turned to the farm in Or-

lien Township where Lu-

cile assisted on the family

farmstead. They moved to

Minot in 2010.

Blessed with children,

Lucile delighted in her

role as a mother and

homemaker, taking pride

in raising their seven

wonderful children,

whom she loved dearly.

Lucile was a member of

Hope Lutheran Church,

Makoti, where she taught

Sunday school. She was

active in community

events, was a member of

the Lund Homemaker’s

Club, past member of

American Legion Auxili-

ary, Orlien Township

Board, and served as a 4H

judge.

Lucile enjoyed her col-

lections including chick-

ens, colored glassware,

antiques, and angels. She

enjoyed reading, baking

and gardening. She loved

to go fishing, especially

on the Big Lake, where an

old-timer saved her a

spot, at Albert’s Point. Lu-

cile carried on her

mother’s love for flowers,

growing numerous beauti-

ful gardens, and passed

that love on to her chil-

dren, who now grow their

own flower gardens. She

(and the family) spent

many hours searching for

pretty rocks and built a

lovely rock archway and

wishing well in the yard.

She was also talented at

making beautiful

bouquets to grace her

table, and often entered

them into flower shows.

Most of all, Lucile loved

the holidays which al-

ways included decorating,

baking cookies and spe-

cial treats, holiday meals

and the precious times

spent with her family.

Lucile’s loving family

includes her husband of

63 years, Melvyn, Minot;

children: Kenneth (Marta

Nelson) Bergeson, Gil-
