Lenore Walks

May 7, 1922-Feb. 15, 2017

Lenore “Grandma

Candy” Walks, 94, Minot,

passed away on Wednes-

day, February 15, 2017 in

a Minot Health and Rehab

center.

Lenore B. Olson was

born on May 7, 1922, the

only child of Olaf and

Olive (Munson) Olson in

Cooperstown, ND. She

was raised on the family

farm and educated in

Cooperstown.

On January 16, 1940,

Lenore was united in mar-

riage to Gordon L. Walks

in Aneta, ND. Following

their marriage they made

their home in Romness

Township, Griggs County

where they farmed. In

The early 1950’s, the fam-

ily moved to Minot, where

they owned and operated

the Burlington Texaco,

Speedway Motel and gas

station, and Gordies Bar

in Foxholm. In addition to

helping operate the

businesses Lenore was

also employed by The

Elks Club, Northwest

Clinic, Tempo and Minot

State College. Gordon

passed away on December

12, 1990.

Lenore was a devoted

Mother and Grandmother

and always put her family

first. Her legacy of love

and compassion towards

people and animals will

carry on. A battle with

dementia robbed her of

the things she enjoyed but

she still was a great role

model for her family.

Lenore was very proud of

her Norwegian heritage

and enjoyed visiting over

a cup of coffee and a

sweet treat.

She is survived by:

Daughter Darlene Ham-

ilton, Minot; Son Jerry

(Sharon) Walks, Minot;

Three grandchildren: Rick

(Addie) Nelson, Kim (Gor-

dy) Olson, Lorie (Mark

Thomas) Possen.

Six great-grandchildren:

Randy (Heather) Nelson,

Tonya (Chad) Eslinger,

Krissy (Shane) Schwartz,

Chad (Sarah) Olson, Lacey

(Surgay Kalamaha Jr.)

Possen, Landon (Ashlee

Jaensch) Possen. Nine

great-great-grandchildren:

Shelby Eslinger, Sheldon

Eslinger, Brody Nelson,

Emma Olson, Kadyn Ol-

son, Sava Nelson, Halle

Olson, Ryker Possen,

Braylee Possen. Two

stepgreat-grandchildren:

Brent Burgard and Justin

Hanson. All of the Minot

area.

Lenore was preceded in

death by: her parents,

husband Gordon, 2 infant

children, sons-in-law Ken-

ny Nelson and Loren

Hamilton. Along with

several aunts, uncles and

cousins.

Visitation: There will

be no reviewal, however,

friends may sign a guest

register on Saturday from

10 am until service time

at Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home, Minot.

turday, February 18, 2017

at 11 am in

Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home Chapel, Minot

Burial: A private family

burial will take place this

spring at Rosehill

Memorial Park, Minot.
