Kermont “Bud” Hollek-
im, 87, Palermo passed
away into the hands of the
Lord on February 25, 2017
in a Stanley nursing
home.
Bud was born January
20, 1930, in Palermo, to
Archie and Ragna (Peder-
son) Hollekim. He gra-
duated from Palermo High
School in 1948. Bud was
united in marriage on De-
cember 2, 1956, in Paler-
mo, to Joyce Dolan and
they spent the next 60
years together.
Bud farmed and
ranched throughout his
lifetime. He refereed
basketball, drove school
bus and was on city coun-
cil for 25 years. In his ear-
ly years, he was a horse
jockey in the local fairs
and enjoyed playing base-
ball, basketball and bowl-
ing. Bud was a member of
the Faith Lutheran
Church.
Bud also enjoyed play-
ing cards, visiting with
friends and family and
watching his children and
grandchildren play sports
throughout the years. Dur-
ing his last years, he and
his wife especially en-
joyed traveling to Stanley
on a regular basis to visits
with friends and have a
cup of coffee at Tri-Jens.
Bud was a devoted hus-
band, and a loving and
caring father and grandfa-
ther. He valued his family
and friends.
Bud was loved by many
and will be truly missed.
His loving family in-
cludes: his wife, Joyce, his
sons Kim (Joan) of Stan-
ley, Jim of Palermo, Mike
of Palermo, and Lori
(Chris) Hanson, of Stan-
ley. His grandchildren,
Ashley (Dusty) Cossette of
Fargo, Brooke (Seth)
Wisthoff of Powers Lake,
Samantha of Abilene, TX,
Megan (Shane) Ryals of
Sawyer, and Jacob Han-
son of Minot; and great
grandchildren, Payton,
Jaxton, Olivia and Abram.
Bud was preceded in
death by his parents, his
infant daughter, Denise,
his brother and sister-in
law, Kenneth and Judy
Hollekim, his sister and
brother-in-law, Ardith
and Melvin Iverson; his
sister and brother-in law,
Fred and Pearl Schim-
ming; his sisters, Bernice
and Sharon Hollekim. He
was also preceded in
death by his daughter in
law, Kandy (Johnson) Hol-
lekim.
Funeral: Tuesday,
February 28, 2017, at 11
a.m., at Faith Lutheran
Church in Palermo.
Visitation: Monday
from 10 am to 5 pm at
Springan Funeral Home,
Stanley.
Burial: Faith Cemetery,
Palermo
