Eldon Seelig, 93, of

Moorhead, MN, died

Wednesday, February 22,

2017 at Bethany on

University in Fargo, ND.

Eldon Seelig was born

May 10, 1923 in Lisbon,

ND, the son of Lloyd and

Bertha (Linzbach) Seelig.

He attended school at

Enderlin, Lisbon and

Casey Consolidated. He

was graduated from Lis-

bon High School in 1941

where he was active in

various sports. He contin-ued in sports while at-

tending Wahpeton State

School of Science where

he earned a letter playing

football.

In 1943 he enlisted into

the Army Air Corps. He

served with a B-24

bomber squadron at-

tached to the 5th Air

Force in the South Pacific.

After discharge in 1946

he attended North Dakota

State University at Fargo,

ND. He was graduated in

1949 with a Bachelor of

Science Degree in Agri-

cultural Engineering. He

was employed by the US

Department of Agriculture

and lived in Mayville, ND

from 1949-1953.

He was united in mar-

riage to Marian Butler in

Aitkin, MN on March 31,

1951. They lived in May-

ville until moving to

Minot, ND in 1953 where

he was employed as a ter-

ritory manager by Min-

neapolis Moline Co. In

1960 he accepted employ-ment with the American

State Bank (now Bremer).

He eventually served as a

Senior Vice President,

working in the Agricul-

ture Loan Department for

about 28 years. He retired

in July of 1988.

Eldon was a member of

First Lutheran Church

since 1953 and served for

many years on the Board

of Directors for the First

Lutheran Foundation. He

served on the Church

Council and was

President from 1987-1988.

He was active in civic af-

fairs, serving as president

of the Minot Area

Development Corporation

in 1983-84, president of

the United Fund of Minot

in 1973-74, treasurer of

the Minot Chamber of

Commerce and board

member of the Minot

Country Club.

He was named a Paul

Harris Fellow by the

Minot Rotary Club. He

was a part member of the

Colin Brown Y’s Men

Club, Life member of the

Elks Club, member of the

Moose Lodge and Ameri-

can Legion. He was a gra-

duate of the School of

Banking at the University

of Wisconsin at Madison.

He also completed con-

tinuing education with

the American Institute of

Banking.

Eldon’s hobbies includ-ed golfing, hunting, fish-

ing, and gardening.

Eldon is survived by:

his wife, Marian; sons,

Bruce (Gay) Seelig, Fargo,

ND; Keith (Kari) Seelig,

Cameron, WI; daughter,

Margaret (Darryl) Ander-

son, Ottawa, IL; sisters,

Lois (Paul) Scheel, Bloom-

ington, MN; Dian Poitras,

Winfield, IL; grandchil-

dren, Rebecca (Luke) Don-

ley, Emily John) Shipman,

Aaron (Anne) Seelig, Eric

(Molly) Anderson, Maren

(Tommy) Caproni; and

great-grandchildren, Noel

Donley, Henry Shipman,

Runa Seelig, Kenzie

Anderson and Lillian

Caproni.

He was preceded in

death by: his parents and

great-grandson, Brayden

Anderson.

Funeral Service: 1:00

pm, Monday, February 27,

2017 at Pontoppidan

Lutheran Church, Fargo,

ND.

Visitation: One hour

prior to the funeral ser-

vice.

Burial: Riverside

Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
