Dale Kankovsky

Dale Mark Kankovsky,
63, Fargo, formerly of
Butte and Minot, passed
away on February 18,
2017 at Methodist Hospi-
tal in Rochester, Minneso-ta. Dale was born to Philip
and Pearl Kankovsky on
August 1, 1953. He was
raised on a farm near
Butte. He graduated from
Butte High School in 1971
and attended college for a
time.
On his first train trip at
the age of 12, he
discovered his passion for
trains and worked for the
Burlington Northern San-
ta Fe Railroad for almost
40 years, retiring in 2015.
Dale traveled to many
parts of the world includ-
ing Turkey, China, Israel,
Mexico, Italy, France,
England, Denmark, Portu-
gal, Spain, Russia, Ger-
many, Poland, Czech
Republic, and Luxem-
bourg.
Dale went with an As-
semblies of God Missions
Team to Nicaragua to help
build a church. His desire
when he retired was to
travel across the country
with a tool trailer to assist
small churches in need of
repair. Dale was a
self-taught carpenter and
handyman.
He was active in square
dancing and ballroom
dancing.
Dale was a thoughtful
and helpful friend to his
stepmother, Lois. He was
a good big brother to his
sister and fun uncle to his
niece. He loved to
surprise his great-nieces
and nephews with many
gifts.
Dale exhibited tremen-
dous strength, especially
during the last months of
his life battling cancer.
His presence, especially at
holidays, will be greatly
missed.
Dale is survived by: his
sister, Doreen (Terry)
Krzebetkowski, his niece,
Jessica (Tim) Seavey,
great-nieces,
Anita,Alice,Ayda,Azella,
Aliviah, and Addalee,
great-nephews, Timmy,
Teagan, and Toren; and
stepmother Lois Kankov-
sky.
Dale had requested no
funeral services. Crema-
tion has taken place.
