Adeline Marie Peck, 83,
longtime Glenburn area
resident and fourth grade
teacher died on December
19, 2016 in a Minot nurs-
ing home following a long
struggle with Alzheimer’s
Disease.
Adeline was born on
February 13, 1933 in
Williston, ND to Norman
and Esther (Olson) Kittel-
son. She was reared and
educated in Zahl and gra-
duated from Grenora High
School in 1951. She con-
tinued her education at
Minot State Teachers Col-
lege where she received
her Standard Teaching
Certificate and continued
taking summer school
classes for twenty years
until she received her
Bachelor’s Degree in Edu-
cation in 1973.
Adeline married Duane
Peck on October 31, 1954
in Kenmare. They made
their home in Kenmare
for a short time before
moving to a farm in Mar-
garet Township of Ward
County near Wolseth, ND.
Adeline’s teaching career
spanned thirty-seven
years starting with two
years in Kenmare and
ending with six years as a
Title 9 teacher in Glen-
burn. The remainder were
spent as an Elementary
School Teacher in Glen-
burn with a majority of
those being as a fourth
grade teacher.
Duane died on July 1,
1989. Adeline continued
to reside on the farm until
she moved into Glenburn
in 2006. Most recently she
had resided at Brentmoor,
Edgewood Vista and Trin-
ity Homes.
Adeline was an active
member of Trinity Luth-
eran Church – Glenburn
and its Ladies Aide. Also,
she was a member of the
Glenburn Senior Citizens,
Jet Bells Homemakers
Group and a local bowling
team. She especially en-
joyed traveling, garden-
ing, quilting, sewing and
playing the piano.
Adeline is survived by
her children: Steve (Ar-
netta) Peck of rural Glen-
burn and Allison Peck of
Los Angeles; grandson:
Addison Peck; sister: Nor-
ma Jean Oyen of Roches-
ter MN and nephews:
Lance and Mitch.
Adeline was preceded
in death by her parents,
husband, brother-in-law:
Walter Oyen, niece:
Valerie Larsen and
nephew: Craig Oyen.
Celebration of the Life
of Adeline Peck: Friday,
January 6, 2016 at 11:00
a.m. in Trinity Lutheran
Church – Glenburn.
Interment will be in
Fairview Cemetery – Glen-
burn.
Visitation: Thursday
from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00
p.m. in Thomas Family
Funeral Home – Minot.
