Funeral Home, Stanley.

Vernon D. Pappa was

born on March 7, 1949 to

Vernon & Lillie Pappa in

Williston, ND. He grew up

on the farm north of Ross

where he attended ele-

mentary school and later

transferred to Stanley. He

graduated from Stanley

High School in 1967.

Vernon was drafted into

the Army in the spring of

1968 and served a tour in

Vietnam from September

3, 1968 – August of 1969

before being honorably

discharged on November

30, 1970. After coming

back from the service, he

started working in the oil-

field in Tioga where he

met his wife, Debbie Lau-

tenschlager. Dale & Deb-

bie were married July 17,

1971. In the spring of

1974 they moved to the

family farm where they

raised their five children

together.

Dale loved to rope and

his horses were always so

special. Working cows

and talking about old

stories made him happy.

His pride and joy was his

wife of 45 years, his chil-

dren, horses and his love

for the land. He was so

proud of all of the accom-

plishments they have

made and loved to brag

about them. His grandkids

and great-grandkid were

his heart and he was ex-

tremely proud of each one

of them. Dale and Debbie

lost a son in a tragic ac-

cident in 1994, which

broke his heart.

He lived on the family

farm until his death. In

the process of turning the

farm over to his son, he

was going to enjoy some

time with his wife, which

he did. His love for his

family was tremendous

and will continue to be

felt, as we miss him every

day.

Our hearts are broken,

but he will continue to be

our rock. Love you, Dale,

with all my being– Debbie
