Helm, 90, Minot, died

Monday, November 28,

2016, in a Minot nursing

home.

Georgia was born July

29, 1926, in Scobey, MT

to George and Mildred

(Snyder) Barnes. At an

early age, she moved with

her family to Minot,

where she was reared and

educated. Following her

graduation from Minot

High School in 1945, she

joined the working world.

Georgia was employed at

Ward’s and Kresge’s

Department Stores as a

young adult.

Georgia was united in

marriage to Dale C. Helm

April 3, 1949, in Minot.

They owned and operated

Helm’s Grocery, with

Dale’s brother and

partner, Howard from

1947 until 1988. Dale

passed away on No-

vember 23, 1980.

Georgia was a longtime

member of Zion Lutheran

Church, where she was

active in the Dorcas/Faith

church circle. She main-

tained memberships in

the community over the

years to Sons of Norway,

Moose Lodge, Christian

Women’s Club and the

American Legion Auxili-

ary.

Georgia enjoyed spend-

ing her summers with

family and friends at her

cabin on Rice Lake. She

always supported the lo-

cal entertainment and cul-

ture by attending sym-

phonies, concerts and of

course, Hostfest. In her

younger years, Georgia al-

ways had to have high

heels and lipstick on no

matter the occasion or ac-

tivity. She passed the time

by playing skip-bo with

her sister-in-law, Freda

along with her many

friends over the years.

She will be missed by all

who were blessed to know

and share in her life.

Her surviving family

includes daughters, Gail

(Darrell) Olson and Carole

(Jeff) Yoder, both of

Minot; grandchildren, Jes-

sica (Tyler) Berube, Minot

and Jerod Olson, Minot;

great-grandchildren, Cam-

den, Reya and Britt

Berube; sister-in-law, Fre-

da Helm, Minot along

with numerous nieces and

nephews

Georgia was preceded

in death by her parents,

husband, Dale, sisters,

Mary Swenson and Nellie

Swenson and brothers,

Herb Barnes and Robert

Barnes.

Funeral Service:  10:00

a.m. Friday, December 2,

2016, at Zion Lutheran

Church, Minot.

Interment:  Rosehill

Memorial Park, Minot, ND

Visitation:  Thursday,

December 1, 2016 from

3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

at the Thomas Family
