Natural gas condensate release occurs at Williston area site

WILLISTON – A pipeline leak caused about 25 barrels of natural gas condensate to be released on a well pad in the Williston area and flow off site into adjacent low-lying wetland areas and an intermittent stream, according to a news release from the North Dakota Department of Health.

Condensate is a low-density mixture of hydrocarbon liquids, a product of oil and gas development.

The pipeline is owned and operated by ONEOK Rockies Midstream, LLC. The release was reported to the Health Department Tuesday.

The release occurred about eight miles southwest of Williston. The location is in McKenzie County.

ONEOK has contained the condensate to within a half mile of the initial release location. Personnel from the Health Department were on site and continuing to monitor the release and remediation.
