Minot crews begin street sweeping

Crews from the City of Minot have begun the annual task of cleaning dirt and other debris that accumulated on city streets during the winter months.

The crews spent two weeks sweeping major roadways, such as Burdick Expressway and Broadway, as well as islands, medians and underpasses.

Beginning Monday, April 15, crews will work day shifts to sweep the city’s snow routes. Starting Monday, April 22, crews will work from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. to clean the four quadrants of the city, using Broadway and Burdick Expressway as dividing lines. Within the four quadrants, crews will be working in different areas. Residents are encouraged to restrict on-street vehicle parking when sweepers are in their areas.

A map showing the various zones can be found at minotnd.org/300/Street. Daily updates will be posted to identify where sweepers will be working.

The street sweeping schedule for 2019:

– April 22-May 3: Southwest quadrant.

– May 6-10: Southeast quadrant.

– May 13-17: No sweeping due to citywide Spring Cleanup week.

– May 20-24: Finish Southeast quadrant.

– May 27-June 7: Northeast quadrant.

– June 10-21: Northwest quadrant.

If crews finish cleaning a quadrant sooner than expected they will move into the next quadrant ahead of schedule. Other Street Department crews will be working to fix any damage to yards or mailboxes, blading alleys and filling potholes.
