Ryan Neuhalfen, Minot, sentenced for simple assault-domestic violence

Ryan William Neuhalfen, 34, originally charged with Class C felony aggravated assault – domestic violence, pleaded guilty on Monday to Class B misdemeanor simple assault – domestic violence.

Court records show that Judge Richard Hagar sentenced Neuhalfen to 30 days in jail, all suspended but the eight days he has already served, and ordered him to complete a domestic violence offenders course. He was also ordered to serve 360 days unsupervised probation and to pay $250 in court costs.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Neuhalfen was charged after an officer stopped the victim and saw that she had injuries on her cheek and jaw on the left side of her face. The woman told police that Neuhalfen had assaulted her during an argument a few days prior to the traffic stop. She claimed Neuhalfen had pushed her down on a bed and punched her in the face wtih a closed fist. He had also prsessed his forearm to her throat, according to the affidavit.

The incident reportedly happened on April 2.
